Right after the funeral of a wealthy man, the stepmother dropped his 10-year-old son on an empty winter road with the words: “His money is mine anyway now, and you are just a burden.”
But at that moment, she had no idea what would await her when she returned home
After the funeral, the road seemed endless and чужа. Luxury cars slowly one by one left the cemetery.
Alex stood by the fence, holding a crumpled flower in his hand. He was only ten years old. He didn’t fully understand what death meant, but he clearly felt the emptiness that had suddenly settled inside him.
His father had passed away too quickly. Just a month ago, doctors were talking about treatment, and then ten days later his heart simply stopped. That’s what the adults said. Alex didn’t have time to ask any important questions, nor did he understand how to live дальше. In that final moment, his father only tightly squeezed his hand and whispered: “Forgive me, son.”
Not far away stood Victoria. A widow in an expensive black suit, with a perfect hairstyle and a cold gaze. She had married his father two years ago, when Alex was still a child, and from the very beginning she looked at him as something unnecessary in her life.
Now his father was gone, and the boy was left with a woman who had neither pity nor warmth in her eyes.
After the cemetery, they got into the car. Victoria drove in silence, not saying a single comforting word. Alex looked out the window, waiting for the familiar turn toward home, but the car left the city. An hour passed, then more. Finally, the SUV turned onto a narrow dirt road and stopped abruptly.
There were no houses, no people around. Only an empty road.
— “There’s a village over there. Walk straight — you won’t die. I don’t need a burden. The inheritance will be mine anyway,” Victoria said and nodded toward the door.
Alex didn’t immediately understand what was happening. He stepped out of the car, still hoping it was a cruel joke. Victoria smirked, closed the door, and started the engine. The boy took a step forward, but the car was already turning around.
He stood there and watched as the black car disappeared around the bend. He had no money and no phone. His father had been buried just an hour ago, and now he had been left on the roadside like something useless.
But a month later, when Victoria returned home after a vacation with her friend, a real shock was waiting for her
Victoria came back from a luxurious holiday tanned, satisfied, and full of confidence. She drove up to the house she believed was hers, but the security stopped her at the gate.
— “You are not allowed here anymore. You don’t belong here.”…\

Victoria laughed, not believing what she heard.
— “What do you mean I don’t belong? I’m the owner of this house. My husband left everything to me.”
The guard looked at her calmly.
— “No. He left all his property to his son, whom you tried to get rid of. Fortunately, we found him. And since he is still a minor, all his finances will be managed by his guardian.”
— “Yes, that’s me!” Victoria snapped.
— “No. The guardian is Margarita.”
Victoria turned pale.
— “The maid?”
— “Yes. Your late husband trusted her deeply. Everything is stated in the will. Now please leave the property, or we will call the police.”
— “And did my husband leave me nothing?” she hissed.
— “Of course he did. He said you can take everything you bought with his money during his lifetime.”
Victoria silently turned around and left. She was never seen again.
