It all started just a few minutes earlier. The baby girl, only one day old, was peacefully sleeping in her small crib. Her mother was resting in the room, covered with a blanket after a difficult labor, while her father was talking to a nurse near the exit, discussing paperwork. The hallway was quiet — only the soft, steady breathing of newborns could be heard.
The boy quietly entered the room, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and approached his sister’s crib. He carefully picked her up, supporting her head the way his mother had taught him, and quickly headed for the door. He acted confidently — almost too confidently for a six-year-old.
“Hey, boy, what are you doing?” a nurse called out when she noticed him in the doorway.
