Kristina Koryagina’s appearance on Russia’s national TV was a wake-up call for millions. Suffering from extreme anorexia triggered by academic stress, the 22-year-old from Barnaul had withered away to a skeletal 17 kg. She looked decades older than her actual age, and medical experts believed she was beyond saving.

Her survival is credited to psychotherapist Jan Goland, who focused on healing her mind to save her body. Through intense therapy and self-confidence building, Kristina began the slow climb back from the brink. Now weighing 30 kg (66 lbs), she has shed the “old woman”

appearance and transformed back into a vibrant, pretty young lady. The “famous anorexic” is gone; Kristina is finally back, proving that even at the edge of life, motivation can perform miracles.
